SAULT STE. MARIE — Law enforcement are still on the search for a man in Chippewa County who was seen on video shooting at Michigan State Police vehicles and setting them on fire.

The incident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6. In surveillance video, a white man wearing camouflage clothing is seen destroying vehicles at the Michigan State Police Sault Ste. Marie Post.

He doused vehicles in gasoline, lit them on fire and then shot at the car from a distance with a rifle. The suspect was then seen driving away from the scene in a white Honda CRV.

No troopers were in the vehicles at the time and no troopers were injured in the incident.

Law enforcement have been on the search for the man, who is considered armed and dangerous. Police are asking that civilians with any available information or knowledge of suspicious activity call the Sault Ste. Marie Post at (906) 632-2217 or dial 911.

Police are also asking any individuals on M-129 between 3 Mile Road and M-80 to review any camera footage from Wednesday morning and report anything suspicious seen on the footage.
